Journeys on a horse....

RIO MITRE HORSE BACK RIDE 4 DAYS - 3 NIGTHS.

DAY 1 Passengers will be picked at the selected hotel arriving at Rio Mitre Estancia alter aprox. one hour after. Mate and coffee reception with home-made cakes. The guests will get to know the horses of this establishment and this same day of arrival, a short horse back ride tour will take place at the estancia valley, so as to make our guests feel more comfortable and confident before the long horse ride starting on the next day. Dinner and lodging here.

DAY 2: Breakfast. Horses are ready to Start the journey. On our first trip of aproximately 25 km, we will be reaching Alta Vista Estancia, a typical patagonic Estancia today dedicated to agroturism. Next, we will be passing in front of Anita Estancia´s doors (legendary after raisings and strikes of thousands of men which led to their death at the XX century. This fact was known as Tragic Patagonia). We´ll have lunch on any green spot we find along our way. In the afternoon, alter riding for two more hours, and passing through Centinela River, we will be arriving to Gaucho Romero´s humble house, here finalizing our first 2nd day trip. The man will probably be expecting us with some hot mate and yummy fried bread. (At this point, we´ll have reached the pre-hills, few kilometer from the Andes summit). Previous to dinner, we´ll put up the tents at the shore of the Centinela river and then enjoy a delicious tradicional “criollo” stew by the fire

DAY 3: Breakfast. Get ready to Start our march to the sidehills of Anita´s Estancia from where we´ll have a priviledged panoramic view of Frías Hill and the “canal de los Témpanos” (floe´s channel). Lunch at open air and lots of time to take pictures and do some trekking or rest. We´ll continue our march to our next camping spot, where we´ll have dinner and put up the tents. We´ll turn on a fire to tell wonderful stories and anecdotes around it.

DAY 4: We´ll keep on going, after breakfast, to continue with our trip, till getting to Chorrillo Malo (“Bad Stream”) (thaw river), we´ll start descending the hill, reaching to Chorrillo Malo Estancia, where you´ll be able to appreciate rupestrian paints engraved in stone from thousands of years only some meters from the Estancia. We´ll take a snack. and alter riding for some more time, we´ll be arriving to Rio Mitre Estancia, where we´ll be expecting you with warm hot chocolate, and great cakes. Alter arrival, a transfer we´ll be expecting you to take you to a selected hotel. End of our services.

The tour includes:
· All meals, ( cheese, salamis, home-made bread, barbacues, stews, etc…) desserts such as chocolates and fruits and beverages (water, juices, soft drinks).
· Basic insurance
· Tents, but we don´t incluye sleeping bags. These can be rented in El Calafate if you wish we do it for you, or you can bring one of your own.
· Horses and saddles
· First aids kits.
· Everything expressed in the itinerary.
· Transfer in/out

CABALGATA DEL BAQUEANO FROM 8 TO 10 DAYS ( duration depends on the experience of the travellers)

DAY 1: We´ll be waiting for the passangers at the El Calafate Airport Comandante Tola. Once they´ve arrived, we´ll be leaving to”28th November” town, where you´ll be staying overnight at a hotel. Dinner included.
DAY 2: Breakfast. We leave from the hotel to Punta Gruesa camping place,green area, where horses will be designated to you to start your journey. Lunch included. In the afternoon, we start our trip towards settlement “6”at Cancha Carrera “Estancia”, in the center of the small Andes Hills: a particularly region inhabited by lots of condors, and guanacos (lamas). Snack. Camping tonight. Dinner.
DAY 3: Breakfast. Departure to “La Esperanza” Estancia, where you´ll be able to admire the panoramic Argentinian-Chilean Andes Hills view called “Los Baguales”. We´ll be staying at the shearers setllement this night. Snack. Dinner
DAY 4: Breakfast. We depart on our way to Settlement “La Calle” from “La Esperanza” Estancia. Lunch there. Camping. Dinner.
DAY 5: Breakfast. Arrival to the espectacular estancia “Lucila” with its magnificent panoramic view from the high summit. Lunch. You´ll meet a typical patagonic estancia founded by Riquez Family, currently belongs to its descendents. Snack. Lodging. Dinner.
DAY 6: Breakfast. Vizcacha settlement belonging to Tapiaike estancia. We camp by the shore of Vizcacha River. Lunch. At this river, you´ll be able to enjoy an incredible spectacle of trout fishing. Snack. At night, Camping and dinner
DAY 7: Breakfast. Departure to Estancia Vizcacha, founded by former settler Ricardo Fernández, currently, it´s property of his descendants. Lunch, snack and dinner here
DAY 8: Breakfast at Estancia Las Vizcachas. We are leaving early today to cross the stunning “Paso las Mujeres” (Women´s Path). Arriving to the settlement from “25 de Mayo” estancia. We already are located here at El Calafate jurisdiction. Lunch. Along this route we´ll have the amazing view from Los Andes Hills, boundary with Chile. Snack. This region is well known by its suden wheather changes, which allow us to enjoy either an intense hot day or a snow storm. Here we have our crossing path at 1800 mts. over the sea level. Camping and dinner.
DAY 9: Breakfast. We depart from Estancia Huyliche, during our march you´ll have the chance to appreciate “ANITA” Estancia, famous due to the strike occured at the year 1921, when more than 1500 strikers were killed. Here they rest at a humble graveyard. Lunch. Later, we´ll be arriving to Esteban Echevarria´s property, who is a descendant of one of the first settlers from El Calafate. Snack and dinner. Lodging.
DAY 10: Breakfast. Departure to the city of El Calafate, where you´ll be accommodated at a selected hotel. End of our services.

(1)Camping : green area, usually no services, only functioning as a wind-stopper, ideal to sleep during our trip.
(2) Settlement : small typical houses at remote places inhabited generally by”gauchos”whose main acrivity is taking care of cattle
(3) Estancia : typical argentinian establishment dedicated to ovines and cattle rasing.
